Healthy Chocolate Desserts... (no really!)

Don't you just wish you could have a second slice of that amazing chocolate cake at your friend's party? What about the decadent double chocolate fudge cheesecake...with chocolate sauce decorating the chocolately surface? For those of you who don't like chocolate, I'm sorry. However, those of you who love it, read on!

I am the first to be annoyed with recipes claiming to be 'healthy and delicious' and then it tastes like cardboard with a side of paper.

Bland.

Great news for you and I, this is not always the case. I found this website one day while looking for a healthy chocolate cake recipe to use for my friend's birthday cake. I was skeptical at first, but after reading all the comments of those who have used the recipe, I went for it. Katie, the blogger and amazing innovator of healthy chocolate-iness, has created many of these recipes that range from pie, cake, cookies, and even hummus (no chocolate in hummus, sorry).

Some of the common ingredient's in the Chocolate Covered diet that we might not have in our pantries are:

-agave nectar
-vegan butter
-non-dairy milk (soy, almond, rice)

The rest, like flour, baking soda, cane sugar, etc. will most likely be in our pantries.

The thing about eating healthy is that, well... it's hard. Some of us have grown up in homes where eating healthy wasn't part of our lifestyle. Therefore, trying to do this as grown-ups totally pushes us out of our comfort zone.

Wouldn't you agree?

Well to ease the transition and hopefully make eating healthy and in moderation a little easier for you all, I decided to share this website. I know Katie would love for you all to visit her blog, and I would love for all of us to live on happy chocolate clouds with chocolate-winged fairies and sing and dance kumbaya while eating Raw Chocolate-Raspberry Fudge Cake. I know, I'm doing this tonight as well.

Enjoy and kudos to Katie for giving us such a tasty solution to our chocolate love dilemma!

  1. Thanks for this! I love chocolate (as most girls do) and wish that I could eat it all the time. Of course, this is something that is not very healthy to do, so I had to limit the amount of chocolate I could have and still be healthy. While it still may not be a good idea to eat it every day, this post and the blog you suggested will give me recipes that will allow me to have chocolate more often without all the guilt. A lot of these recipes sound wonderful, and I cannot wait to try them out!

  2. Wow, that's really interesting. My wife LOVES baking and would appreciate this health- friendly recipe. And it just so happens, my favorite sweet is chocolate cake! It's good to know that you can have your cake and eat it too. I'm excited to share this with my wife. Thanks Sam, you're awesome!
